Privacy Policy

Last updated: April 22, 2026

k-ssul ("we", "our", "us") respects your privacy. This page explains what data we collect, why, and how it's stored. If you have questions, contact hello@k-ssul.com.

1. What we collect

  • Anonymous interactions. When you "like" a story or view one, we record a salted SHA-256 hash of your IP address + browser user-agent (a "fingerprint") to prevent duplicate counts. We do not store your raw IP in our primary stories table.
  • Local preferences. We save which stories you've liked in your browser's localStorage, so the heart icon stays filled on return visits. You can clear this any time in your browser settings.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) may log standard HTTP access records (IP, user-agent, URL) for a short retention window for operational and security purposes. We don't cross-reference these with user behavior.

2. What we do NOT collect

  • No accounts, no logins, no passwords. (We may add optional Google login for commenting in the future; we'll update this page first.)
  • No third-party advertising trackers. We do not share data with ad networks.
  • No selling or renting of any data, ever.

3. Third-party processors

  • Vercel โ€” hosting and edge caching (United States).
  • Supabase โ€” managed Postgres database where story content and anonymous interaction counts are stored (Tokyo region).
  • Anthropic โ€” processes the original Korean text through the Claude API for translation. This happens at content ingestion time (before publication), not on every page view.

4. Cookies

We do not set tracking cookies. Minimal functional storage (e.g., the "liked" flag in localStorage) is used only for the user experience.

5. Your rights

Since we don't collect identifiable personal data, there is nothing tied to you to request or delete. If you're an author asking for your published story to be removed, see the Copyright & Takedown section of the About page.

6. Changes

We'll update this page if the data we handle changes. Check the "Last updated" date above.
