A boy gave me an umbrella in 4th grade and then just... moved away

So I was in elementary school, maybe 4th grade, and it started drizzling. I had my indoor shoe bag on my head (don't ask) and I'm just walking to school when this boy I didn't even really know just. puts his umbrella over my head. Out of nowhere.

I'm like ???, so I keep walking but honestly the way other kids were looking at us made me SO embarrassed. I literally just speed-walked home without saying anything to him. didn't even say thanks or anything. just. ran.

Next day rolls around and he's just... gone. I didn't think much of it at first, whatever right? But then his friend comes up to me and is like "hey he moved away. and btw he liked you."

That was YEARS ago. I'm literally an adult now and I STILL think about this sometimes. like why was he doing all that. what was going through his head. an elementary school boy really said "let me just make a move with an umbrella" and bounced the next day. the audacity honestly.
