Friend brought family of 4 to my hotel wedding, gave $23 in gift money, then had the AUDACITY

So I need to vent about this because I literally wake up at 3am shaking thinking about it.

I got married a few months back at this fancy hotel in Gangnam. The per-person meal cost was like $90+. I sent out invites really carefully because I only wanted close family and actual friends there, you know?

Then out of nowhere, this girl Minhee I hadn't really talked to since high school hits me up like "omg I heard you're getting married!!" and begs for an invite. Kinda random but whatever, it's a happy day, so I sent her one. She swears up and down she's coming.

Wedding day. I'm in the bridal suite and Minhee walks in. Not alone. She brought her husband AND TWO KIDS. Four people total just walk in like. Excuse me???

The kids are stepping on my dress while we're doing photos. I'm trying to be nice about it but I'm literally watching their feet on my gown. Minhee's like "oh they just really wanted to see you!" with ZERO apology. So I give her four meal tickets. Four. For her family.

Cut to the reception. Minhee's family is absolutely DESTROYING the buffet. I'm talking multiple trips to the steak station, her husband ordering wine glasses, the kids dropping food everywhere. Minhee literally brags to me that the kids are on their THIRD steaks. Third! I'm just trying to smile and think "okay, they came from far away, that's nice."

That night, going through the gift ledger with my husband. I see Minhee's name.

30,000 won.

That's like $23 USD. For four people who literally ate $500 worth of food.

I thought I misread it. Checked the envelope. Nope. Three crisp 10,000 won bills. That's it.

I'm FURIOUS but whatever, maybe she's having money trouble. I wait a week.

Then Minhee texts me.

She's sending me pictures of the kids eating the steak like "the kids keep thinking about it lol... do you have any leftover food from the venue?? 👉👈"

And THEN she's like "btw my situation is kinda tight right now so I couldn't give much but I'll treat you big sometime later okay?"

Treat me. After paying $23 and eating $500 of MY wedding food.

I SNAPPED. Wrote her a whole novel like okay Minhee, we weren't even close, YOU reached out first, YOU begged for an invite, YOU knew it was a hotel wedding with expensive food, and you brought FOUR PEOPLE and gave me basically nothing. That's not cool.

She LOSES IT. Starts saying it's not about money, it's about the thought that counts, and her KIDS complimented my dress so why am I being so materialistic???

Then she starts telling people I'm a money-obsessed snob who "looked down on her for being poor."

She even went to the group chat from our high school and played victim.

So I did what I had to do.

I posted the photos. The receipt showing what they ordered. The envelope with 30,000 won. And I broke down exactly how this wasn't about being petty, it was about basic respect.

Everyone in the chat immediately switched up. Like "wait you brought FOUR PEOPLE and only gave $23??? That's not a gift that's BEGGING."

Minhee deleted herself from the chat. Lost friends over it too apparently.

Am I harsh? Maybe. But I'm not sorry. This girl showed up like a guest but acted like she was doing ME a favor, ate like she was starving, and then had the nerve to act oppressed when I called her out.

Some people are just trash and you gotta throw them out.

If you got someone like this in your life, don't be nice about it. These people don't change.
