my friend can see ghosts and she will NOT stop telling me about it

okay so I wasn't going to post this but.

I have this friend I've known since high school. her mom also has "the thing" (sensitivity to spirits or whatever), so I guess it runs in the family. I had NO idea my friend could see ghosts though.

so one night after 야자¹ we grabbed tteokbokki and hopped on the bus home late. the bus was basically empty, which I was actually excited about bc free seats everywhere. I'm about to plop down anywhere I want and my friend suddenly LOSES IT trying to get me to get off.

I was like babe I already tapped my transit card, we're staying. and she's literally offering to pay my fare back just to get me off this bus, getting genuinely upset about it. so I'm like "why are you being so insane rn" and I get off just to shut her up.

we're waiting for the next bus and she gets this low, quiet voice. asks me if I saw the bus driver's face when we got on.

I said I was texting, didn't really look.

she goes. "there was no bus driver."

and I'm like okay ha ha very funny, buses don't drive themselves, nice try, not scared. but then she tells me to actually think about it. like... did I see any part of the driver. an arm. a uniform. ANYTHING in that seat.

and I'm sitting there going through my memory and. I got nothing. like you always at least clock the driver when you tap your card, it's automatic. I had zero memory of him.

she tells me sometimes ghosts will mess around and drive buses or taxis. usually it's just a prank and nothing happens. but sometimes. you just end up somewhere you're not supposed to come back from.

so basically. I had mindlessly gotten on a ghost-driven bus. she saw it immediately and didn't want to get on, but I was mid-text and just walked right past her onto this thing. she got on WITH me to drag me off. and when I refused to leave, the other ghosts sitting on that bus apparently started grinning and nudging each other like oh we're getting a new friend tonight.

she was PISSED and physically pulled me off.

that was the day she finally told me she sees ghosts. I was like... half believing her at the time.

then this happened.

our school had been doing construction on the field since before I enrolled. during PE they'd always keep us away from that area, said it was dangerous. one afternoon we were skipping 야자 and just sitting on the field eating snacks. and my friend suddenly goes "oh?" and throws an ENTIRE choco pie (still in the wrapper) into the corner.

I'm like WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT'S FOOD.

she just says let's go, consider it eaten.

I keep pushing her on it and she finally says. there's a small boy over there. watching us eat. he looked so sad she felt bad.

I nearly peed myself right there. not joking.

but here's the thing. I found out later that early in the construction, some scaffolding or rebar collapsed at that exact spot. a little boy got buried. they took him to the hospital but nobody knew if he made it or not.

small boy. exactly like she said.

I'm still writing this and I'm scared lmao why did I think this was a good idea to type out.

ANYWAY. she still does this when we hang out now. we'll be walking somewhere at night and she'll just go "oh?" and look to the side.

and I have to grit my teeth and go SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP I WILL END YOU.

I've built up some immunity at this point. but barely.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
