So back in high school there was this one friend who got sleep paralysis like constantly. Like genuinely knew everything about it because it happened so much.

Summer of sophomore year. Hot as hell, right. So he's just wearing boxers to sleep, trying to cool down. Normal stuff.

He does it like five more times. "Am I awake? What is happening?" Finally he wakes his mom up and drags her to his room.
Mom sees her too.
Dad hears Mom screaming, comes running. Dad sees her too.
For a second Dad hesitates but then he just... walks toward the window real slow. Looks closer. Then calls the police without saying a word.
Turns out the upstairs neighbor had hanged herself from the window frame with a rope.
She'd been there the whole time. Hanging. And the last thing she was looking at before she died was my friend sleeping. Just a random kid in the room below, totally peaceful, totally unaware.
My friend had a breakdown. Actually went to a psychiatric hospital after that.
And I still can't stop thinking about what she was thinking in those final seconds. Like... why was she looking at him?
