my middle school crush literally knew the whole time and it paid off

okay so in middle school I had this seatmate who was OBSESSED with soccer. like would skip lunch every single day to play. so I felt bad watching him starve, right? started sneaking bread and milk from home and literally hiding it in his desk drawer. did this for like two months straight.

fast forward to day 60-something and I'm the one dying. I'm talking full body ache, couldn't eat, just face-down on my desk the entire lunch period. and then... my seatmate doesn't go play soccer. he just sits at his desk. I'm internally freaking out but also trying not to show it because I'm literally dying.

then I hear footsteps. they're getting closer. AND HE TAPS MY SHOULDER.

"hey, you look sick," he goes.

I look up and he's just... patting my head? softly? telling me I need to eat. then he goes back to his bag and pulls out BREAD, MILK, and TYLENOL. puts it on my desk.

"you gave me this stuff all the time. felt weird giving it back lmaooo but eat the bread and take the medicine. even if you're sick you gotta eat."

I FROZE. like full body freeze. just staring at him with my mouth open.

he grins. "thought you didn't know huh, you idiot lmao."

"wh... what?"

"you obviously didn't notice I knew. your FACE when you give me stuff lolol it's so obvious you like me. everyone sees it but you. they all know you're into me."

and I'm sitting there turning BRIGHT RED trying to deny everything and he's just. smiling. like he already knew the answer.

"and YOU don't even realize... when I look at you? my expression?"

I'm losing it at this point.

"the guys told me you're totally obvious about how you feel. everyone knows. except you. genuinely, back then I was like... *heavy sigh*... so into you."

AND THAT SEATMATE IS NOW MY BOYFRIEND AND WE'RE BOTH IN OUR THIRD YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL LMAOOO
