I wasn't going to post this but it's been sitting with me so here we go.
Jeonghyun wanted out of Seoul for a weekend. Just... quiet. So he rented a tiny cabin deep in the mountains, the kind of place where your phone basically gives up and the internet doesn't exist. Perfect for decompressing, right.
He unpacked and went for a walk. The forest was exactly as peaceful as he hoped. And then he wandered off the trail. Just a little at first. And then more. And then he had absolutely no idea where he was, and the sun was going down.
That's when he saw it. A building through the trees. Cabin-shaped.
He got closer and. okay. It was clearly abandoned. Windows smashed. Door hanging open, creaking when he pushed it. He went in anyway because what else are you gonna do at this point.
Flashlight on. Dust everywhere. Spiderwebs. Old furniture, a busted-up bed. He decided he was sleeping there.
He was lying in the dark reading when the sounds started. First he thought wind. Then it shifted. Footsteps. Getting closer. He told himself there's NO WAY anyone else is out here. He turned off the flashlight. Held his breath.
The door opened slowly.
Something was in the room with him.
He could see a shape moving in the dark. Just... drifting around the room. And then it was gone.
He didn't move for a long time after that. When he finally turned the flashlight back on he was soaked in sweat. Nothing there. Window showed nothing outside either.
Maybe an hour later the door FLEW open. Wind poured in. He pointed the flashlight straight at the entrance.
On the ground in the doorway. A photograph.
It was a photo of this exact cabin. With a group of people standing in front of it. And one of those people looked EXACTLY like the shape he had just seen in the room.
He grabbed the photo and ran. Just ran. He doesn't know for how long. By the time dawn came he found his way back to a road, made it down the mountain, got back to civilization.
A few days later he went to a library and looked up the cabin.
Burned to the ground thirty years ago. Entire family died in the fire. One of them was never found.
He still has the photo. He's never gone back.
