The Delhi Subway Station That Doesn't Exist (And I Got Off There)

I wasn't going to post this but here we are.

In south Delhi there's supposedly a metro station called Trilokapuri. Except it's not on any official map. Locals don't know it exists. It only gets mentioned when someone goes missing on the subway and reporters start digging.

The legend goes: if you get off at Trilokapuri station, you never make it back above ground.

I was staying in Delhi in 2020 when I heard this. Thought it was a creepy urban legend, whatever, cool story. And then I accidentally ended up on that train.

The train stopped at a station with no name sign. Lights flickering. Platform cracked and old like nobody had been there in decades.

Some passengers just. Got up. Quietly. And walked off.

I followed them. I don't know why. I just did.

The platform floor was split open in places. The ad boards had writing on them that wasn't English, wasn't Hindi. Something that looked like it absolutely should NOT be read out loud. Like your brain was telling you don't. just don't.

Then the man behind me whispered: "So you've made it this far."

I spun around. Nobody there.

The station just... kept going. Tunnels in every direction, no exit in sight. But there were signs on the corridor walls.

[TRANSFER / RETURN / THE ONES LEFT BEHIND]

I walked toward RETURN. Dead end. A wall.

Covered in photographs.

Hundreds of them. Missing persons from all over the world, different faces, different countries. And then I saw one I recognized.

My college friend. Who disappeared three years before this.

After that my memory just goes blank.

When I came to, I was told I'd been found near an abandoned station on the outskirts of Delhi. Hospital records said I was missing for 72 hours.

My phone still had photos. Strange symbols from the platform. And one selfie of me standing in front of a dark mirror inside the tunnel.

In the selfie my eyes were OPEN and staring and they were not. mine.

They were not mine.

Enjoyed this? Tap the heart.
