my student asked me to translate 'i love you' and i couldn't handle the cuteness

so i tutor this high schooler in english right. and like this kid is genuinely smart, cute as hell, super polite, follows along great. but then out of NOWHERE they just start staring at me all blank and asking me to explain super basic sentences over and over like they're confused when they're obviously not lmao.

and every time they'd ask i'd be like "huh?" and i KNEW they understood but i just went along with it, played dumb too, you know? cute energy.

then yesterday they asked me to translate the sentence "I love you" and i was like. oh my god. this is NOT subtle bestie. like the audacity to just... ask that so directly. but ALSO it was so fucking cute i literally couldn't help myself so i just looked them in the eye and was like "it means 'I love you'" and translated it for them.

and their face IMMEDIATELY turned red. their mouth was doing that thing. i'm crying they were so adorable about it. LMAOOO i can't.
