My male best friend showed up at midnight and confessed

So I went to this study cafe and was heading home late at night. I was scared so I called my guy best friend to keep me company on the walk. But then he's like "why don't you ever get a boyfriend, you're always calling me?" and I was just joking around like "that's why I have you, what do I need a boyfriend for" or whatever.

And then. He just. Goes silent.

Then he's like "where are you right now?" and I tell him I'm passing the playground near the apartment complex. And he goes "wait there for a sec."

So I'm standing there still on the phone with him, and suddenly he just... appears. Out of nowhere. He walks me home and then RIGHT THERE in front of my apartment building he confesses to me.

I'm still processing honestly.
