told my younger bf to stop acting like he's protecting me and he cried

so my bf is three years younger than me and he's ALWAYS going on about how he's looking out for me, protecting me, whatever. like bestie you're not my bodyguard lol

anyway I got fed up and told him straight up: "stop acting like you're some noble knight. the only reason you're not dragging me to a motel and getting wasted is because you're literally too immature for it. don't act like you're making some sacrifice."

and this man just... started crying. like full on tears. I'm still not sure if I was harsh or if he needed to hear it ngl
